ICARS MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Iredell County Amateur Radio Society will be held tomorrow night, September 12, 2013 at Julia’s Talley House in Troutman.  From I77 north or south take US 21 into downtown Troutman.  The Talley House will be on the left at 305 North Main Street just past the intersection of Wagner Street and North Main Street traveling north.

Meet us there at 18:00 hours local time and enjoy the famous Talley House buffet style home cooking and rag chew with some of our members prior to the meeting at 19:00 hours.  All hams and hams family members are welcome as well as the general public.

After a short business meeting we will host a presentation by N2TU, Louis Dietrich, an avid DX’er who has attained Top of The Honor Roll and Ten Band DXCC.  Lou says he needs “one more on RTTY (BS7) and one more on CW (P5) to have ‘Worked Them All’ “.  Lou will talk to us regarding the 2012 Swains Island DXpedition.  He’ll give us a firsthand look at what is involved in an undertaking of this magnitude.  We’ll also hear from him concerning the Wake 2013 Commemorative DXpedition where he will serve as team leader of a 12 person team of the best DX’ers and at least 11 other team members who will serve as support on Wake Island (http://wikitravel.org/en/Wake_Island).

A final note, ICARS was formed on September 9, 1976 so we are officially 37 years old.  We probably won’t make much notice of the passing of that anniversary date but you can make it special for us by visiting with us.
